Clothing & Equipment Guidelines, City Point 2014

US Volunteer Infantry-Enlisted

• Regulation sack coat and sky blue trousers
• Issue shirt or appropriate civilian shirt
• Civilian or military pattern drawers & socks
• Government Issue shoes or boots blackened and free of dirt.
• Issue or commercial forage cap
• Issue M1858 or M1862 canteen
• Painted cloth haversack and knapsack
• Issue shelter half, blanket and rubber blanket
• US issue accouterments with leather blackened & brass polished
• US issue Springfield rifle musket on P1853 Enfield musket with bayonet.

US Volunteer Infantry- Officers

• Regulation frock coat or commercial sack coat
• Officer pattern sky or dark blue trousers
• Commercial forage cap or kepi
• Appropriate boots or shoes
• US Regulation sword or private purchase variant
• Appropriate sword belt and accouterments.

US Regular Infantry

• US Issue uniform & accouterments as specified by the company commander in orders of the day.

CS Prisoners

• Richmond depot jacket type II or III
• CS or US issue trousers
• Civilian slouch hat or CS issue kepi
• Other clothing and equipment as dictated by unit specific research.
• Note: Do not bring weapons or related accouterments

General Notes

1. Photos of US troops at City Point show them well dressed with clothing in good repair.
2. Likewise, photos showing troops with weapons at CP, show arms well cared for and free of rust and dirt.
3. Slouch hats are acceptable for wear when not under arms.
4. Vest are an optional item of wear for enlisted men when not under arms.
